Dust Sampling

EKO Building Biology provides services for air sampling for inhalable and respirable dust in both residential and commercial premises.

All respirated dusts must be considered harmful to some degree

Inhalable dusts or course particulates consist of particles sized between 2.5 and 10 microns; these can get caught in the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory system causing health concerns such as asthma and increased respiratory illnesses such as coughing, irritation and breathing difficulties.

Dusts and particulates that are smaller than 2.5 microns are called respirable dusts as they can penetrate deep into the lungs. Generally the smaller the particulate the more severe the health effects such as lung diseases, heart problems and premature death.

EKO Building Biology follows Australian Standards AS 3640-2004 and AS 2985-2004 when sampling for inhalable and respirable dusts.
